Book of Matches (bookofmatches.com) Review 2020

Book of Matches is a free online dating site that offers a way for singles to connect in their local area.

It has a lot to offer and little bad about it. Signing up is easy, using it is easy and best of all it is one of the few “free” dating sites that really is completely free. Here is a more in-depth look at what Book of Matches has to offer.

Book of Matches

Book of Matches First Impressions

The first thing that stands out about this site is that there aren’t a lot of bells and whistles. This is a low tech site that is free because it hosts ads. There aren’t any options to pay to get rid of them; this is truly a what-you-see-is-what-you-get environment.

There are many positive benefits to this –

  • Low tech means it will work on most devices.
  • The ads aren’t popping up, they are fed through in the side bars
  • It is easy to navigate and use, everything is right where you expect it to be.

As you register, which is a standard and easy process, you will also start to notice something about Book of Matches – there are real people on it. Perhaps one of the most stand-out points in this site’s favor is that it seems to be geared equally towards men and women. The age range looks to be in the mid 20s range, but there is a little higher and lower age ranges represented to. It should be mentioned that this site is also geared towards heterosexuals only.

It won’t turn you away if you are looking for the same gender, but you just aren’t going to find that here. Another thing that supports the perception that this is a good free dating site to use is its Alexa score. Book of Matches scores in the 45,000th percentile in the US and has a global score of 127,389. In the past six months, it has climbed in its ranking by over 25,000 places. While the US is heavily represented in the profiles, there are also a good representation of international profiles too. It has also dropped in its bounce rate and the average fewer sticks around to at least look at 4 pages a day.

Book of Matches Features

For a simple, no-frills site Book of Matches has a lot of the paid sites beat in the features it has to offer. There is an option to contact people via email, and you don’t have to pay extra for that. You can highlight profiles you like and there is also a version of the “hot and not” that anyone can participate in.

Two of the most attractive and unique features that the site offers is the fact that you can

  1. See who viewed your profile
  2. Prove you aren’t a chat bot

The site gives you an opportunity to prove you are a real person by choosing to do certain tasks and activities. This earns you a “seal of approval” that other people can see on your profile that proves that you are a real person. This alone makes this site a better choice than many of the others. The search options are basic, but complete. You can also blog on the site and tag your blog entries to let people on the site know it is there. Without making a big to-do about it, Book of Matches also functions well as a social media site for singles. Everyone is definitely there for the purpose of meeting someone else, but it has an overall friendly feel to it.

Book of Matches Price and membership

Book of Matches is completely free. There are no hidden charges or “advanced feature” options to pay for. When you want to disable your account the option to do so is right under your settings choice. While it is free, you should expect that it is a cookie driven site as it is run by hosted ads. This means that there will be some data scraping going on to try and target ads to you that may be of interest.

  1. I have an old profile on BOM, I can’t recall the email or password to access the account, so I tried using the Contact Us link and it doesn’t go anywhere? No email or customer service contact whatsoever! Who owns the domain of the BOM site, or does anyone know how to contact the webmaster? Thank you.

  2. Nook of matches is a site that acts legit. But it isn’t. There are many scammers. Many fake profiles. Anyone who says different hasn’t spent enough time on this site to make any kind of judgement. My account was deleted 3 times for talking about the weather, coffee, pets, farms. Things of this nature. Never did I or the person that I conversed with discuss anything sexual, personal information, e-mail account information. Just chat about our daily lives. Our work. The weather. Mosquitoes. Just chat. And 3 times my account was deleted. The first 2 times I contacted customer service, through email. In about 3 days they fixed the problem. But refused to give me any explanation as to why my account was deleted. This time. The 3rd time. They refuse to assist in any way. And the really sucky part is, i actually met an actual person. And was enjoying our evening and morning chats. And for no reason these jerks deleted my account.
