Oasis Dating is not to be confused with Oasis Active or any of the other Oasis series of dating sites.
Oasis Dating is an Australian based dating site that is working hard to play off the Oasis keyword to get traffic. What it has to offer, especially since it is not a free site but a paid site, may make you want to reconsider where you are looking to find someone to spend time with.
Nothing screams “fake” like a dating site that features a couple frolicking on the beach – a very obvious stock image that looks more like it should be on a travel brochure site than a dating site. Then you notice that over half the page is taken up with sign up information and questions about what you are looking for – nothing heavy, just gender and location but this type of template web design for a dating site is fast becoming associated with scam sites.
Real dating sites put the features first so you have an idea of how you can use the site to access all the wonderful people it is going to let you talk to. The web design is also antiquated, this is not a responsive site and if you aren’t on a device that is “just so” you can expect lag times and much scrolling around to see what is available.
How does it compare in the real world?
Alexa does have information on this site, which is surprising given how it appears. The rankings aren’t all that good, particularly the performance analysis side of it all.
- It has a global rank of 163,080, with a one year drop showing as 2,043
- The UK rank is 12, 452. The only other country that appears on its demographics map is Australia.
- The traffic ranks show that there was a very brief blip of activity about a year ago, but as far as traffic goes – this site is all but dead in the water.
Back to the concept that is a template site with nothing special and nothing new to offer, the features listing reads like the generic copy on the back of a dating software package. You can –
- Build a profile
- Search profiles using different filters
- Upload pictures
- Chat and IM
The site goes on to try and make the fact that you can search by gender and proximity seem exciting and new, but like the whole styling of the site being about 20 years past its due date – so are its feature offerings. Which is especially concerning considering that this is a paid site.
Price and membership
Oasis Dating is not a free site. They do the “free to join” dance but when it comes down to it, it is a token driven site and these tokens come in different tiers and with expiration dates. A basic paid pack of tokens can cost you $16.03 a month or $32.04 for 3 months. For the premium paid pack the cost is $26.50 and $53.09. But those aren’t really the tokens; that is just the paid pack to be on the site. You get some tokens but considering it costs 500 tokens to see who has looked at your profile and a 1,000 to get search priority – you can go through your account quickly.
Oasis Dating is your run of the mill template dating website. It has no real demographic reach but us relying on the keyword “oasis” to get traffic to the site. It is also using the “free to join” trick to flesh out their profiles with images and information so the site looks much more active than it really is. Most of the profiles aren’t really active, or they are out right fake. Given all the amazing and free sites that are out there if you are looking for a date, there is little reason to use this one. It doesn’t even have the decency to be a veiled escort site, it is just a really badly done attempt to make money off of people’s loneliness. There is always the small chance that you could be there at just the right time to meet the right person who also joined by mistake – but don’t bet your money on it.
